Veterans Cultivate Path for Peace

This weekend in the United States we are honoring all the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in all branches of the military for Memorial Day. These individuals paid the highest cost to carry on the preservation of peace and democracy to all peoples of the world. It is our opinion that most individuals in the military truly believe that they are the peace keepers and conduit to which others may find a way out of turmoil and disparity. However, too often our wars and conflicts are only a political tool to benefit the few.

Veterans for Peace is a non-profit organization established in 1985. Its membership consists of military veterans, families and servicemen and women from other allied countries. Veterans for Peace seeks to educate the populace using non-violent means about the true business and human and worldly costs of war. Their mission is to “build a culture of peace.” Their message is spread by the members from over 120 localized chapters across the United States and abroad.

The following is Veterans for Peace statement of purpose:

We, as military veterans, do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace. To this end we will work, with others both nationally and internationally

  1. To increase public awareness of the causes and costs of war

  2. To restrain our governments from intervening, overtly and covertly, in the internal affairs of other nations

  3. To end the arms race and to reduce and eventually eliminate nuclear weapons

  4. To seek justice for veterans and victims of war

  5. To abolish war as an instrument of national policy.

To achieve these goals, members of Veterans For Peace pledge to use non-violent means and to maintain an organization that is both democratic and open with the understanding that all members are trusted to act in the best interests of the group for the larger purpose of world peace.

Peace 4 the Planet would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all veterans here and in the hereafter. Our position is of peace and understand the sacrifices you have made and continue to make in the quest to finally end all wars.
